MICHAEL SUTTIE

ARCHITECT
Michael graduated from Mining Engineering UNSW after a year working in the mines of Outback WA. Soon after, he travelled to Europe and was inspired by the timeless beauty of the built heritage of Western Civilization during his work as a stone mason, carpenter & artisan in the UK, France, Italy, Belgium and Athens.
Michael eventually returned to Australia after a decade with a Spanish wife, a Masters degree in Classical and Traditional Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Notre Dame, IN and at the ND Study Centre in Rome.
Since returning to Australia in 2008 Michael has been working to change the culture of architecture in Australia through the growing practice MJ Suttie Architects, currently working on a wide variety of residential, ecclesiastical, educational and Urban planning projects around the country.
All the projects strive to put into practice the Classical Ideals of Architecture to build beautiful, functional and durable places.
WINSTON GRANT PREECE

Designer
Winston is an accomplished designer, urbanist, landscape designer & painter.
After completing a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of South Australia in 2011, Winston gained experience with a number of established firms in Sydney, Australia before travelling to Europe on scholarship — gaining a Masters of Sustainable Urbanism at the Princes Foundation for Building Community, London. Simultaneously Winston gained invaluable experience in production, design and delivery of large scale urban and architectural projects with King Charles’ architectural charity formally known as The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community.
Winston’s exquisite classical design skills have been recognized in awards from the Prince’s Foundation, the Institute of Classical Art and Architectures Bunny Melon Landscape Design Competition, as well as the Enduring Design Awards with the Heritage Trust Australia.
Winston applies the classical language to landscape, residential and interior practices giving projects a cohesive aesthetic palette that is subtle and elegant.
As Director of Design and Partner at M.J.Suttie Architects, Winston is committed to changing the building culture in Australia through contemporary architecture and urban projects exemplifying classical principles.
Alexander Dowthwaite

Designer
With a strong interest in architectural practice and the application of traditional knowledge in the built environment today, Alexander is passionate about building better places to live through a humane approach to architecture that fosters local character and regional diversity and puts the real needs of communities first.
Alexander is Project Lead at the Prince's Trust Australia and Deputy Chair of the Australian chapter of INTBAU, or the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism, which promotes Australia's rich and diverse building traditions and their application in contemporary design.
Alexander also runs architectural education programmes around Australia, and in his spare time is also an amateur artist, musician and writer.
